The York University Bookstore respects the privacy of all its patrons. The personal information you provide will be used for the administration of Bookstore purchases and other related purposes. Likewise, should you choose to opt-in, we may send you emails regarding specials or sales being offered by the Bookstore. We will not rent, sell, loan or otherwise market your personal information to any third party outside the University.

York University has a policy on access to information and protection of privacy and we will protect your personal information in compliance with Ontario's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (R.S.O. 1990, c F.31). It is important to note, that if we are compelled by any government authority of competent jurisdiction within Canada to release information regarding a registrant, we must do so.

We employ SSL for your privacy in transmitting sensitive information. If your browser is capable of working with "strong encryption" (128-bit encryption), our servers will negotiate that with your browser. If your browser supports standard encryption (40-bit), our servers will work with this as well. We will not accept personal data on any page that is not SSL enabled.

Use of "cookies" Our shopping cart system uses "cookies" to store your selections, the most common cause of items disappearing from your shopping cart is when cookies are either not supported or disabled. Our website has been tested extensively with Internet Explorer 4.0 and later, and Netscape Navigator 4.08 and later. We recommend Internet Explorer available here free of charge.

To enable cookies with Internet Explorer 5.0:

1. Click "Tools" -> "Internet Options"
2. then choose the "Security Tab" and click the "Custom Level" button
3. Scroll down and enable the cookies by selecting the checkbox.
